Athenia started life as a collaboration between Singer musician Sarah Davey and writer/producer Pete Booker. Although partners of some years they had never worked together in a creative meaningful way.
The whole thing started late in 2005 when Pete was invited to guest at an open mike event called "with one voice" by fellow musician and friend Lynn Holland. He suggested that he would feel better if Sarah sung and he simply played piano, although Lynn at this point had not heard Sarah or any of their music for that matter. There was a good reason for this as no music existed at this point. In fact due to Pete's work load the first song was written the evening before the gig in fact lyrics were still being written on the car journey on the way to the gig!

That first song became "Live and let live" and proved so popular even in its unrehearsed state that they both decided to write together, and so Athenia was born. Although the project has expanded beyond what was originally expected, the initial concept remains. This being true to oneself, in as much as the music is not inherently influenced by current fads and trends. Athenia is about enjoyment and expression.
The songs and music will speak for themselves and there will be no restriction in instrumentation used just to jump on a current musical bandwagon. This album is a turning point for Pete in as much as he could experiment freely with sounds and textures. Something which he has be unable to do since he produced co wrote the award winning album Benediction Moon with singer Pia back in 1998.
The defining style of Athenia is song based with a rich tapestry of instruments played by Pete, Sarah and guest musicians.
